VIZIO 65 Inch Smart TV E650i-A2 65-Inch 1080p Smart LED HDTV

VIZIO 65 Inch Smart TV

I just had a couple of observations about both the tv itself, as well as the process of buying it. First, I want to mention that I ordered this tv on an evening where the price was 1368...or close to it. Sometime during the night, amazon lowered the price to 1299 and this was the price I ended up being charged. To my mind, that's just doing the right thing. Many companies would have just charged the higher price and waited to see if I caught it and called. So, credit to Amazon, well done.

Delivery and packaging was excellent. The shipping company wanted to deliver several days after my expected delivery date. But, upon learning that this was the date given to me by amazon, they quickly amended the ship date. The tv arrived in perfect condition and the crew was pleasant.

I really thought I was going to return this when I first powered it up. The picture was pretty bad and even though the settings are quite far off out of the box, it was more than that. But (and I'm not clear on why), after it hit the two hour mark or so, it really came to life. It focused, and most of the issues were corrected by this brief warm up period. It only happened the first time, and now it's ready to go as soon as you power it on.

The tv itself is pretty solid as a budget led would go. Once dialed in, colors are good, picture overall is quite pleasing. This is a direct lit display coming in somewhere between edge lit and full array. as a result, it has good uniformity throughout and no light bleed on any edges. And, it does have a pretty thin bezel. The downside to the direct lit is the thickness. this tv is thick by todays standards.

I just want to be clear, it's not a high end set. It doesn't have the black levels or motion handling of a plasma but, it does have the advantages of being an led lit LCD panel. You can play games, hook up your computer, forget to turn it off, or pretty much view whatever you want without fear of burn in or image retention. Do plasmas still have burn and ir in 2013? You bet they do, even with pixel orbiters and screen wash. But, it's a use case. I have a Mac mini and an Xbox on it, I needed the led. If it were movies only...it would have been a Panasonic plasma. All that said, for the money, it's a pretty darn good tv.

A few small things worth mentioning. The remote is pretty particular about being pointed right at the lower left hand corner of the set to work. The set can be slow moving through menus. I have not tried the sound as its being fed from a pioneer receiver. Wireless worked great and connected to an apple AirPort Extreme without a hitch. I can't really speak to the apps. I have them on a roku 3, Apple TV 3, oppo 103 blue ray player, and of course the Xbox. So, really...how many times do you even bother setting it up. For what it's worth, the roku 3 is the way to go IMHO.

Mohu Leaf Paper Indoor TV Antenna Reviews - Thin Indoor HDTV Antenna - Made in USA with Premium Cables, Premium Connectors and Premium Materials

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QK7HI8/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004QK7HI8&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=SAA3IXO6W5ASHR6V

Indoor TV Antenna Reviews

I am part of a small group of friends who are gadget enthusiasts. One of us was a cable TV technician for 20 years, before that a TV repairman who installed tower TV antenna systems. We find that the best indoor antennas tend to be inexpensive, about $14 tops. There are a lot of makers and retailers of "Amazing digital" indoor antennas that prove to be garbage and cost up to $130. We have tested dozens and in the end end up still recommending $4 RCA units sold by stores like Family Dollar and Dollar General. My favorite has been a no brand flat antenna made in China, sold by Big Lots for $14. With I pick up 9 to 11 digital & HD channels.

Every $30 plus unit I've found recommended by buyer comments, I've ended up returning as the Big Lots unit did as good or better. Then, I ordered the Leaf. I did expect some improvement given the many very high buyer ratings.I was also thinking I may end up returning it. 1st, I was sceptical. As one buyer here put it: "it didn't look like much". Paper thin and paper light sealed in plastic. I thought "what the heck?
I paid $44 for this?" My first placements and tuner scanning left me unimpressed. Then, I read the sheet that came with it. It read: 'best results from positioning it cable down. I recalled one buyer wrote she taped it up, I grabbed a thin tall box and taped the Leaf to it, so the cable could be at the bottom and the leaf hang down. I could move the box around the top of my entertainment system, which permits me to face the Leaf out a window.

This time when I ran 'scan channels' I was amazed. My TV found 14 channels! I was seriously impressed as I sampled the channels. I got 19 channels and three more (two of them analog) that do not work well. I cannot wait to connect a low power amplifier. With that I am sure I will get 22 channels, all with small indoor antenna. I cannot wait to see what happens when I position the Leaf to pick up stations to the North of me. I live in Canton, Michigan, an hour from Toledo, Ohio. I would not have believed it, if a nieghbor told me he could get one Toledo channel with an indoor antenna. I am getting three! I am also getting Canada's CBC 9, an analogue channel.

NOTE. I find many times buyers blame on an antenna, a fault I never see mentioned in buyer "reviews". I am surprised neither antenna sellers or makers educate buyers about this very real possibility, namely not all tuners are the same, not all tuners in the same TV model line work properly. For instance, I bought a Haier 10" portable as a gift recently. When I tested it, the TV worked fine. I bought another one a week later as a gift. The second Haier had a defective tuner. It finds only 2 to 3 channels with the same antenna and same locations and positions where I tested the first Haier I bought. The first TV found 9-11 channels and play them well, except for one or two. Also, the second tuner came up with different results each time I ran scan.

When you find your results with a highly buyer rated antenna is poor, you want to make sure the problem isn't your tuner, not your antenna or your location, the electronics near the area, your house construction, etc. I point this out because people mention every possibility beginning with sorry antenna and including where their home is, walls in their home, etc., but NEVER suspect the tuner (Or a neighbor's overpowered poorly tuned illegal CB radio station). Consider also Solar activity & atmospheric activity, at the time. that may deflect TV signals.

Netgear NeoTV Streaming Player (NTV200) (Old Model)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005MJWGJC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005MJWGJC&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=I3JKJMGRXUKSTAFA

Netgear NeoTV Streaming Player

The NTV200 is exactly what I was looking for in a media player except for one large issue that I have not been able to resolve. The set up and connection to my router and TV were easy and went as I expected. Pandora, VUDU, UTube, all work as advertised. However I bought this unit primarily to stream from Netflix and I have not been able to resolve the problems with movie playback. I can select Netflix from the Home page and it loads normally. I can search for movies and vue the que as well. When I select a title to play however, I get a pixilated green screen, audio appears normal. I called Netgear who told me this was a Netflix problem. They had me change the hdmi cord and restart the cable modem and router to no avail. They told me the problem was with Netgear not them and recommended I call Roku who may actually make the box. Roku went through some of the same steps but was unfamiliar with the product and sent me back to Netgear. Netgear again told me it was a Netflix problem and demonstrated a very poor understanding of their own product. This thing has the potential to work well and I assume there is some sort of compatiblity issue with my Sony Bravia TV or the Netgear router or some problem with the firmware. If I can't resolve this on my own in the next few days I will be returning the product to Amazon.

First thing first, I was part of the beta test program for this device and I received this device for free for testing purposes. My thoughts and opinion on this device are strictly my own based on my needs and use of the device and are non biased.

Now that that is out of the way I will say this is a great little feature packed device. It is packaged in a small form factor roughly 4X4 or 5X5 inches in size, has a HDMI connection as well as a port for Ethernet hookup. It's setup is rather fast and effortless, once you turn the device on for the first time you go through a series of screens to help you get the best streaming capabilities out of the device. One thing I like is that no matter what resolution your TV has, this device can output in any of them. I found that AUTO resolution worked best and this is great if you are unsure of the resolution of your TV as it will set it automatically for you. You can even setup the internet while on these main screens, you can choose wireless of direct connection with Ethernet cable. I have tried and used both and found that the connection is strong and doesn't require a lot of buffering when watching online content. Whichever connection method you choose, be aware that if you switch between sources really fast you need to allow and make sure the device connects to the internet if using wireless. There have been times when I do this and find that I cannot connect cause of dropped connection, so make sure you are connected.

This device allows you to connect to Netflix, Hulu +, Vudu, among others. There are games you can play, view online photos, even connect to facebook, making this a real all around media device. For those looking for a strictly streaming only device this is IMO one of the best, very fast and user friendly. But, if you are looking to connect to network devices then it is best to look at other netgear devices as this will not do it.

Even though I have received this device for free initially, I purchased 4 more of these devices because its very easy to use and allows us to stream content in almost every room of our house. I find this to be one of the best streaming devices and am happy to recommend this to others as well as family members.

On a side note, check out the remote application on the I-phone and Android market. You may find yourself using its remote more often than the one that came with the device as its much easier to use.

Who Makes Sceptre TV X320BV-HD 32-inch 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV (Black)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004J66GSQ/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004J66GSQ&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=O7E4KTB7XUVHUYB3

Who Makes Sceptre TV

Received my new TV today. Amazon refunded me the difference between the 299 price and the 244 memorial day price at a major dept store. So, it was a very good price. As for the TV, I was expecting something to meet basic needs in a home office. I don't have an HD box in the room so I started out just connecting to cable and seeing what the QAM tuner could find. I didn't count the channels but...there's a lot. The major channels are coming in HD and the picture is nice - bright and clear - color is nice. I'm not extremely picky so if you are a videophile: 1) don't take my word for it 2) why are you looking at a bargain basement 32 inch TV? But if you are looking for a basic set, seems fine to me. Doesn't seem as crisp as my panny plasma or mitsu dlp but...so. Remote is basic, but fine. Sound is fine. I see lots of picture and sound adjustment options but haven't played with them yet. There are no weird bars on the right side and no pixels wrapping around to the other side (in other words I didn't get a faulty set). And for the person who wrote a review based on different TVs they bought 4 years ago...no, this one doesn't have that problem either. I can't speak to longevity for obvious reasons. If I run into a problem in a few months I'll try to remember to come back here and update. If you are like me and were looking for an inexpensive set to do a basic job, I don't think you will be unhappy. I'm tempted to give it 5 stars based on the fact that it is everthing I wanted/expected it to be but...it didn't change my life or anything. And that's my story.

It's a 32" tv that has clear picture, and sound, with ports to spare. After comparing it to my 32" Vizio E322VL tv, it is more pixelated when viewing it at a close distant. But at a proper viewing distant, it presents a clear image that looks nice with HD channels. it's also as bright as the Vizio. The stand doesn't tilt up and down, but it can be turned left and right if needed. All and all, for 250$ (what I bought it for) its a great bargain for a no name brand.

I had never heard of the Sceptre brand before, but after researching (thank God for the internet, huh?), I see it is made by Hitachi, which is a reputable brand. I had been following the price of this TV, and it has continued to come down; I wound up getting it for $229 with free shipping; so the price was outstanding, to say the least. I unboxed it, hooked it up to my DirecTv HD receiver, and was watching it in fifteen minutes. If you have a newer DirecTv remote (RC65R), there is a Sceptre code for it (apparently older remotes use a Sony code to program), and I programmed mine on the first try. I watched a football game right after powering it up, and I was simply BLOWN AWAY by the picture quality; my 50 inch Samsung in the living room has NOTHING on this inexpensive Sceptre. The menu is very easy to navigate, and since the speakers are not top quality (what do you expect for $230), you will need to get into the audio mode and modify the factory settings, or use external speakers as others have said. It has an internal equalizer, so making the speakers sound more than tolerable was very easy. I've only had this TV for a month, so it remains to be seen if it is of good quality, and lasts a long time. So far, I can't say enough good things about this little gem; the picture quality for the price paid is out of this world.

Magnavox TV Reviews 39MF412B/F7 39-Inch 60Hz LCD TV (Black)

Magnavox TV Reviews

We purchased this TV to replace a smaller non HD one we had in our bedroom and are pleased with it. It's a simple to work TV and we don't seem to have some of the issues others are having. This is our 2nd HD LCD TV and compared to our Vizio it's pretty basic, but that's not saying it's a bad TV at all.

*Sound - For a large room I can see turning this up higher and the sound quality going down, but in a bedroom at around 15-20 ( the setting goes up to 100 which we would never have a need to ) it works just fine. Due to previous experience with our other TV we learned that some of the "sound issues" people are having could be from the True Surround ( ON -kicks out a little more sound. OFF -sound is a little flat) or the Auto Volume Leveling ( ON -seems to lower the volume drastically, we had the TV set to 12 and it was fine but when we turned this feature on the sound was equal to 5-6. This feature was introduced a while back to combat the jerk commercial makers that have their commercials broadcast at higher volumes because they figure if they talk louder we will want to buy whatever it is they are selling. It's kind of like someone talking louder and slower to someone that doesn't speak the same language as they do....it doesn't really change the fact that they don't understand your words. There has been talk about something being passed to make it so this can no longer be done with commercials. OFF -you get more sound but may have to deal with annoying commercials being louder. There is a digital coax output in back to connect to a theater system and a standard headphone jack.

I am pleased with this TV and would recomend it to someone looking for a 1080p TV that's not tiny or huge for a bedroom.

*Picture is crisp and can be viewed as well as you can see yourself from the side. The image does not fade out.

My only complaint is the remote layout. The arrow selection buttons are at the bottom of the remote and the source button is clear at the top. I feel the source button should have been by the arrow buttons for quicker and more natural use. Three extra source buttons would have been nice ( HDMI, TV, Component) to quick select source options. This bugs me but it's pretty minor and if you are using a universal remote you may not have this problem at all.

Compitable Mitsubishi TV Lamps 915P049010 Lamp for Mitsubishi DLP TV

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AJ8RAA/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001AJ8RAA&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=EIK4FHPEARREVVSF

Mitsubishi TV Lamps

After replacing 3 lamps in my original Mitsubishi housing I decided to purchase this complete housing-lamp assembly. The first thing I noticed is the filter screens are much coarser. Especially the 5/8" x 2" small air intake filter screen for bulb cooling. The old housing had an ultra fine screen that would clog over with dust in a month or two blocking all the cooling air. Hot bulb means short life. This will not be a problem with this new housing. This one is perforated metal with .076" holes, a huge improvement to avoid clogging. The bulb is an Osram not an offbrand, that's good. The housing screws are not the large thumb screws like the original but I don't see a problem. The housing is an exact fit to match the original and installs easily. I won't know if the new more open screens will improve bulb life but I am optimistic.

I have a 65" HDTV and the replacement bulb from Mitsubishi was $249, but a friend told me about Amazon and his savings, so I checked it out. He was right!!! I saved almost $150 for the exact same bulb with the housing. It came with intructions right in the box on how to change out the old and new bulds. It took only minutes and we were once again watching our big screen. Just in time for all the bowl games and college basketball. I plan on shopping more from Amazon!!!!

VIZIO E550i-B2 55 Inch Vizio Smart TV 1080p Smart LED HDTV (2014 Model)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GKKI4JI/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00GKKI4JI&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=2ITSX73L2ZFL3ZAE

55 Inch Vizio Smart TV

Pros:

1. Vivid and very clear picture, especially with native 1080P content. The Smart Dimming (active LED zone dimming) feature does make a subtle improvement to the picture, so I recommend leaving it on.
2. Smart TV dock with common applications such as Amazon Instant Video, NetFlix, Hulu Plus, and more. Also may be customized.
3. WiFi and Ethernet connectivity. Ethernet is the preferred way since WiFi can be unreliable.
4. Nearly borderless.
5. 3 HDMI connections and a whole host of analog connections. Digital audio out (optical).
6. 120 Hz. I have not noticed significant judder.
7. Almost effortless picture tweaking by selecting "Calibrated" mode. This produces the best and most natural picture for a well-lit room without over-blowing the colors.
8. Blacks are very deep, and much better than my older 42" CCFL backlit Vizio TV.
9. Remote is very nice and feels sturdy. Buttons are on the small side, however.

Cons:

1. Picture is not going to rival a $1,500 Sony or Samsung, but the picture is still very good.
2. Viewing angles are OK for this set, but don't expect to get too far from front and center. Washout of the colors will occur starting at more than 20 degrees from head-on horizontally, and about 40 degrees vertically.
3. No ability to adjust how the motion compensation feature works. Older Vizio TVs allowed you to select the degree of aggressiveness of the feature. The user's manual shows the option, but the option is not actually found in the TV menu system.
4. WiFi is only 2.4 GHz. This is a major problem in my book. If you intend to stream and are in a place congested with 2.4 GHz networks, you really need 5 GHz. In my case I am using Ethernet, so it is not an issue.
5. I do notice slight judder, especially with upconverted and streaming content. Not major, but if you look for it you will find it.

Conclusion:

I am very happy with my purchase. It was a worthy upgrade from my 42" CCFL Vizio set. I am not using the TV internal speakers since I have sound piped out through digital optical to a sound bar.

My picture settings are as follows, and I highly recommend them since I have had time to fiddle with TV:

1. When initially setting up the TV, select "Home" mode. DO NOT select Retail.
2. Go into the menu, Picture settings, and then select Calibrated. Although you will be tempted to fiddle with other picture settings....resist the temptation. I learned changing this one thing is the only adjustment you need make.

Remember that you will need to select Calibrated for all inputs. It will default to Standard picture mode (very dim and not all that vivid) when you first switch to say another HDMI port for your BluRay player. Once you switch over to the different input, go ahead and make the change and it will remember the changes for each input. DON'T FORGET to also make the change for the Smart TV streaming hub "input" as well. It will default to Standard for that too until you change it. I would be happy to answer questions.

Monk TV Show Cast: The Complete Series - Limited Edition

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003WVJ65Y/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003WVJ65Y&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=LTFV34BR2MOB5HTX

Monk TV Show Cast

I just watched Monk from start to finish, 8 seasons, one season a week for the past 8 weeks. It has to be the best -- or one of the very best -- TV shows ever produced, IMO. Terrific acting, great humor bordering on slapstick sometimes, good drama, fantastic character development. Tony Shalhoub is simply outstanding. Not to be missed.

Sherlock Holmes, Columbo, Hercule Poirot -- genius detectives are usually a bit quirky. But no other is as quirky as Adrian Monk, the obsessive-compulsive detective -- and "Monk: Complete Series " compiles every episode of this funny, likable little mystery series. Tony Shalhoub shines as title character, solving the case with his gift/curse and his willingness to go anywhere... that doesn't have germs.

Adrian Monk's wife Trudy was killed in a car-bombing, and the devastated detective fell apart completely. Years later, Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is partially recovered, but he still is obsessive-compulsive and has dozens of phobias. The only way he manages is with his assistant Sharona (Bitty Schram) -- and later her successor Natalie (Traylor Howard) -- babysitting him.

Courtesy of his friend Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine), Monk is called in for dozens of bizarre, baffling cases. His excellent memory and his OCD ("It's a gift.... and a curse") allow him to see patterns and details where other people see nothing.

Among Monk's cases are going undercover at a prison, a killer dentist, a deadly Christmas gift, an elephant used as a lethal weapon, a billionaire mugger, saving Willie Nelson from a murder rap, trapping a black widow, the death of a 115-year-old man, the Mafia, garbage strikes, rock concerts, a cult, real estate, a murder on a sub, a voodoo curse, UFO sightings, martial-artists, murdered models, and a guy who leaped out of a plane -- and died by drowning.

But as quirky and bizarre as the cases is, it never stops hitting the heartstrings. Monk becomes attached to a little boy and a murder victim's dog, and it's a credit to this show's writers that the ending of those episodes aren't maudlin or sappy. And he is still passionately devoted to his dead wife, and his quest for her killer is a story that stretches across the whole series.

"Monk" is the sort of show that usually gets cancelled after five episodes -- it's well-written, amusing, and smart. So by TV standards, lasting eight seasons is nothing short of miraculous. Like any long-running show it has its duds ("Mr. Monk Takes His Medicine" always makes me cringe), but overall it's a brilliant series.

There are gunfights and SWAT teams, like on any cop show, but the main focus here is on detecting. And the writers are skilled at coming up with all sorts of bizarre or unsolvable crimes, which only Monk could unravel. Not to mention the dialogue, which leans heavily on dry humour ("So you're saying the opposite of a spider is a tall building?")

But the series wouldn't be what it is without Tony Shalhoub. He played weird roles in movies like MIB and "Galaxy Quest," and so he knows how to balance out Monk's weirdness and genius without leaning too heavily on either. When told to sit on the ground, he says nervously, "I can't. Animals do things on the ground. Terrible, terrible things."

Schram and Howard are both good as his assistants, and they're similar without being TOO alike -- one was a hardened New York gal, and the other is a rebel rich girl with a checkered employment past. And Levine and Jason Gray-Stanford round off the cast as genial cop Stottlemeyer and his earnest (if slightly goofy) sidekick Disher.

"Monk: The Complete Series" shows us all of this excellent show, with its uniquely appealing hero. It's a gift... and a curse.

Ridiculousness TV Show: Season 1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005T93TQE/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005T93TQE&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=XKBYJB4BQN2XWTLM

Ridiculousness TV Show

Ridiculousness is one of my favorite shows on MTV and every time it comes on, I have to watch it. Anyway here's a real brief review.

The good is that all the episodes from season 1 are intact. The shows with Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, Big Black & Dingos two appearances, to Biker Fox, Travis Pastrana and others are all here. Also included are the bonus clips originally found on MTV's website.

The bad, though it may be considered a nitpick (but still worth noting) is that like most DVD's that are from tv shows, the music IS changed up. Specifically the theme song in the intro has been replaced by another rock song. It's okay but the original stands out more. So if you're expecting the song by Devo, you might be a tad disappointed.

Unlike other reviews I've read, the DVD's I purchased play back just fine. They are all in sync and the audio is good. If you're a fan of the show, these DVD's are worth having in your collection. Hope this review helps.

It is a funny to watch, always a good long laugh. They should expand the video and guest selection though.

Walmart Refurbished TV Samsung UN40H5203 40-Inch 1080p 60Hz Smart LED TV

Walmart Refurbished TV

Samsung makes great TV's that surpass every other manufacturer in their class. I have two Samsung's in my house and I can tell you the image is beautiful. This TV has an LED screen and in my opinion this the way to go (LED is similar to LCD its back-lit better so that they are no dark spots on the screen).

Now add in that this TV can directly connect to the internet and I'm sold. TV's of this class have never been cheaper.

One thing that I have found with TV's that its very important to actually look at the TV in person. Now when you look at the TV's, go to a place like Walmart to see them, because many times specialty stores like Best Buy play with the lighting controls on the TV and in the store to skew the image to there advantage. Once you look at the TV simply look and decide which one looks better to you.

The next step to take into consideration is features. Here are a few that come with this TV:

This Samsung comes with Auto Volume which automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.

As far as outputs most of these TV's will come with more than enough Inputs and Outputs. This TV comes with 4 HDMI Audio/Video In, 1 Ethernet LAN In/Out, 1 RCA Component Audio/Video In amd 1 Digital Coaxial Audio Out.

Next thing when shopping for a TV is in box technology. Here are some of the features of this TV:

With this Smart HDTV there is a full web browser with WiFi built-in apps made for TV. Some of the apps this TV features is Hulu Plus, YouTube, Netflix, Facebook, and Twitter. Browse the web while you watch movies and TV shows, and enjoy TV while you chat with friends and family online, all on one screen with this Samsung.

Thank you for reading my review, if you have any questions feel free to email me, I would be happy to help you with any questions you have.

InStyler Tulip Auto Curler As Seen On TV Hair Curler

As Seen On TV Hair Curler

Bought this item thinking that i would work since i saw someone review it on youtube. It seemed like it was working pretty well. I gave it a shot and the first 5 curls were beautiful. I have dark brown hair that is relatively thick and down to the middle of my back. so i put the settings on it for dark and thick hair. After a couple of curls, my hair got tangled. The machine stopped and i was able to pull the curler away it scared me a little but i thought it was a good thing that the curler stopped. I kept going with my hair and got to another strand where it got stuck. This time i wasn't able to pull my hair free. The machine was BURING MY HAIR (i could smell it and see the smoke!) and i literally had to RIP the machine out and gave that strand about a 3 inch trim. Not only that but it completely damaged that strand. It now looks like one of those Brillo pads and smells completely burned. I love my hair enough to know that cannot be fixed. This happened to about 3 more strands after this one too. I didn't want to chance the rest of my hair so I returned the item. I don't know if it was because my hair is somewhat long but, if you want to damage your hair or spend time yanking it out then go for it

Just got mine yesterday and was skeptical. I have to be honest here. Love love love! It is absolutely amazing! Not only does it make beautiful and perfect curls but they last all day and are so soft and shiny! I am so satisfied with this purchase. This isn't a fake post or whatever. This thing really really does work!

Curling my hair just became effortless! I'm in love with this product because it curls my hair quickly, effectively, and safely. More importantly, I don't have to worry about burning myself like I would with a traditional curing iron or wand. The cord is extra long, so you have plenty of room to maneuver in front of the mirror. The Tulip also comes with a handy users' manual and style guide to help you figure out which settings is most appropriate for your hair-type and desired style, and (bonus!) it includes a little measuring clip so you don't put too much hair in and tangle your locks in the curling chamber. I've been reading some super negative reviews, so I hope the following tips will help out:

1. Do pay close attention to how much hair you curl at one time. Follow Tulip's directions to the letter so your curls come out right the first time.
2. Do thoroughly dry and section your hair as much as possible to make the curling process go quickly.
3. Do use a fine-tooth comb to de-tangle and smooth your hair just before inserting a section into the curler.
4. Don't overload the curling chamber, and don't load your hair incorrectly or allow stray hairs to be drawn in during the curling process.

And that's it! I went from curling my hair in 30-45 minutes to 10-15 minutes in a matter of days!

Product Details :
  • Open ceramic barrel designed with anti-tangle technology
  • 2-way rotation with 3 rotation settings to curl left, curl right or alternate
  • 3 heat settings range from 350 to 430 degrees Fahrenheit to accommodate all hair types

My Favorite Martian TV Show- The Complete First Season

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002T7YYO/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0002T7YYO&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=LOFWBFJT7EMDFI5Y

My Favorite Martian TV Show

Okay, first, I have to admit that I haven't made it through all 37 shows in this set, so all I can say about the transfers is....so far, they are excellent. Other non-studio companies packaging television programs would learn a lot to follow the lead of Rhino. They include all intro and outro sequences, and are the full program, as originally broadcast.

The one thing that distracts from this being a 5 star set is the packaging. This is the worst packaging job I have seen yet of a season set. The single DVD plastic keep-case, with a hinged 2-DVD insert is just plain cheap. Not only that, it promotes the damage of the discs...including the fact that one of the dual-sided discs rests on the mount for the third disk (which is stored on the back flap of the case).

The insert is a simple cardboard one....no booklet detailing the different episodes, or giving any additional information. Just a list of the shows.

Also, a menu of the episode selections would have been greatly appreciated. The only choices on the main menu are "Play All" and "Scene Selections". In order to choose an episode, you must page through the "Scene Selections" and choose the beginning scene of the desired episode.

Another note....when an episode concludes, the viewer is not sent back to the menu, but instead, the next episode starts playing.

Rhino really gets an "A" for releasing this show, and for it's video transfers (not only the quality, but that they are in their entirety).

Unfortunately, they are prevented from getting 5 stars by their poor menu programming, and the packaging which doesn't protect the disks.

Still, if you are a fan of classic TV, this set is still well recommended.

Street Legal UTV

I installed this kit in my Honda side x side and it works great - it took a while to do and one needs to be familiar with 12v dc electrics - I did not like the 'button' lights that came with the kit and opted to purchase some larger lights to install - the kit came with all necessary parts, although I again elected to solder and heat shrink connections - the end result is I have a street legal machine with working turn signals and a horn - well worth the money - I only gave four (4) stars since I purchased different lights, I feel that larger lights should have been offered.

Very happy with purchase! Came with all parts needed and easy to follow directions. Took me 3 hours to install (I am quite handy and mechanical). Everything works great. Turn signals are manual and lights could be bigger. A lot of bang for the buck tho.

Wiseguy TV Show: The Collector's Edition (Seasons 1- 4)

Wiseguy TV Show

When Wiseguy originally came out on DVD, I was excited beyond words to finally see my favorite tv show of all time after so long. Right before I went to the store I decided to check Amazon for reviews, which is where I discovered the most climactic scene out of the entire series had been massacred. Any other episode I might understand, but for the studio to care so little about the show to not pony up the extra dough to keep "Nights in White Satin" in the final scene told me a lot about not only how much they care about the profit margin, but also how little they care about the fans. To me it's the same thing as taking John William's music out of the final Death Star scene in the original Star Wars movie. At that moment I refused to buy any Wiseguy DVDs, from any season.

Years later I hear about this collector's edition coming out, and again I get potentially excited..until the announcement comes out that's it's not a collector's edition at all, just a repackaging of the previous releases. I can at least understand the Dead Dog Records arc because of the sheer number of songs and the editing issues, but one song in what most fans consider the most poignant and emotional scene of the series?

Great job to the studio and Mr. Cannell. After all these years you still know how to put the screws to the fans. I guess it's time to find some old VHS copies and convert them to digital format.

The Dresden Files TV Show: Season 1

The Dresden Files TV Show

After Buffy went off the air, and then Charmed, I despaired of finding a supernatural show with quality writing and great plots. My prayers were answered by the Scifi network with this awesome show.

I was already a fan of the book series and this show does an excellent job of adapting the stories written by Jim Butcher. Like in Charmed, magic exists but regular people don't know about it. Harry Dresden is the only Wizard P.I. in the phone book. Most think he's a crack pot, but some know he is their only hope. He works as a consultant to the police via Det. Murphy on those cases considered bizarre. Along the way there are werewolf serial killers, vampire club owners, and innocents that need to be protected.

The show doesn't overdo the special effects, rather using them less frequently but with greater impact. Which is actually in keeping with the books. Harry is faithfully recreated and played by Paul Blackstone. And then there is Bob. The portrayal of Bob is one of those rare instances where a book character has been drastically changed, but in a good way. In the books he is an incorporeal spirit residing in a skull. This is fine in the books where a reader's imagination is boosting the concept, but would not translate well to TV. Producers cleverly decided to make him a human-looking ghost with a dry wit and snappy dialog. They did it so well, Bob quickly became my favorite character!

If you like fantasy or scifi shows, get the Dresden Files. And when you can't get enough of Harry, get the books.

Entertainment Centers For Flat Screen TVS Prepac Altus Wall Mounted Audio/Video Console, Black

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054ZSK30/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0054ZSK30&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=YJ6CUWTVMO4UQSBY

Entertainment Centers For Flat Screen TVS

This is a wonderful console to place under your wall mounted flat screen TV. I was looking for something that would get the TV/DVD/Cable wires up off the floor and hidden. This console does this beautifully. However, be prepared to have some time on your hands in order to mount this on the wall. My husband had the kit opened and was ready to put it up, when he realized there were no mounting screws. The directions did state that they were not included, but there were no guidelines as to what type to buy, etc. So, after a trip to the local Lowe's, the correct mounting equipment was purchased and he was ready to do the job. Everything went fairly well, although it was a bit trickly getting the holes drilled in the back of the unit. It's up now and is really solid. Very attractive unit, just time-consuming and tricky in some ways to put up. Also, we called the Prepac Helpline, asking if there was a kit with the mounting materials. All they could tell us was that there wasn't a kit and they referred us back to the seller for information. Anyway, they weren't much help.

We just got a new 60" TV that I wall mounted, I first tried the Mount-IT three tier glass shelves but the center of our TV (where you mount them) was only dry wall. We used the anchors as per the directions but after seeing the wall flexing and having one of the screw type anchors start to come lose I took it down immediately and started looking for a new entertainment center. My wife and I really wanted the floating look to go with the TV since the wires are ran down through the wall but wanted something that mounted to studs.

Install: we have 24" studs where the TV is mounted, the wall mount is mounted off center and the TV sits on it to the right a bit for where we wanted it on the wall so we were only able to span two Studs. For the support brace one 5/16 lag is 7" from the left hand side and one 24" from that, this left 15" on the right unsecured. While I was comfortable the two studs would hold the weight I used a 3/16 toggle a few inches from the right side just to keep it tight to the wall and for peace of mind. I mounted a powerstrip to the inside compartment wall with two short self tapping wood screws and really took my time on the wiring routing (we crammed a lot of equipment into this thing). We have it mounted on the wall so the back compartment covers the wall outlet, cable outlet, and outlet for the TV wires. While it is lower than some of the user pictures on here having it completely cover all wires from every angle it really gives a true "floating theater" feel to the room.

For the one reviewer who gave this a one star rating because they had to remove the unit each time they had to unplug something, in reality how often is that? I can reach the powerstrip switch from the bottom access hole. If you are worried about having to remove it frequently and still want the primary unit mounted to the wall here is what I did. Use a 3/8-16 x 4" Coarse/Standard Steel Plain Hanger Bolt from Home Depot which screws into the stud and leaves a threaded tip for a nut/washer. You will need to use a dremmel tool or similar to cut out an oval shape in the back to allow the up/down sliding motion needed to remove it over the lip of the support bracket but it works perfect, a few quick turns with a socket and the nut comes off, lift 1/2" and pull it out. Simple. Sure, it takes some extra work and maybe they could incorporate such a feature in the future but that is no reason to rate this outstanding entertainment center a one star.

My only con is the lack of hardware included. Sure this gives you the flexibility to mount it to your application as you see fit, but lets face it, a lot of people are that that 'handy'. They really should include a kit for installation, even if just a basic one. Heck, any wall mount TV bracket comes with all the hardware you would ever needed for any type of installation. I spent a total of ~$10 on hardware to install this.

Insignia 32 Inch TV Class (31-1/2" Diag.) - LCD - 720p 60hz - Hdtv

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EW0TA5A/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00EW0TA5A&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=5KXFSDQ6HIX6FB2S

Insignia 32 Inch TV

Wow this is awsome. I had this tv for 20 days and i love every second of it. Im comming from a big giant 19inch box tv that my parent had in 1999 and was passed on to me. Big big big diffrence in color and type of tv. Insignia is a O.k kind of brand.. My cuosins owns a insignia Tv 19inch flat screen. Only last him less then 4yrs. I think thats good enogh for me for a nice name brand.. I went to bestbuy store in my city and they had this tv for sell on sell that day for $179.99 wow what a price. plus I got the geek squad 2yr warranty for $24.99 .. So if anything happens to the tv bestbuy will fix it or replace it within the 2yr warranty. Witch I don't care because after two years I plan on upgrading to a known name brand. So this is Very nice and big lliterly. The color is un believable or maybe its becuse its my first KIND of TV. And then i went to buy the PS3 bundle at gamestop and it was a deal. My new ps3 with HDMi cable connected to this tv looks so real. You can see every detail on the body of the person In the game. Well not only that but it also gets digital Tv anolog over the air antenna. I get 68 channels and thats perfect because I can't afford cable, but wow you can see every single detail on the face of news casters on tv, the news people are very wrinkled and sweaty faces, lol very big flat screen with amazing HD picture and the volume on this is perfect very loud. Tv is very light and when I move around the room I can still see the tv on good color. Some other tv gets there color darken when seen from the rear sides but with this insignia tv there is no problem.

I bought this for my daughter, but ended up with it when she found she decided she wanted a wall projector instead. So I have it on my boat on SF Bay for nights I sleep at the marina, and this TV rocks. Yes, it was way less expensive than a major...I have a 32 Panasonic in my mancave at home...but the picture on the Insignia is outstanding, and the on screen menu is far easier to cope with than other sets I have had. Using only a rabbit ears, I pull in about 50 digital channels and they all look great. For the price, this set is spectacular. And despite the marine environment...I lay it down in the V berth when sailing...it has held up well, better than the small curtis 15 I was using before this. You cannot go wrong at this price. I compares well...or beats...name brands I have had, particularly a samsung 32 LCD that lasted a year before it burned out. Get this!

This tv is awesome. Sound quality and image quality is amazing. Couldn't ask for more. Good for gaming, sport mad anything u wanna watch. It's big and cheap and last long. Awesome tv. Don't underestimate it because it's not sony, samsung or any top brands. It gets the job done like all other tv.

Who Makes Seiki TV LC55TD5 LC55TD5 55 120Hz 1080p LCD TV

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KZFNRQ/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004KZFNRQ&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=YFNJHFZFS7RZCX3F

Who Makes Seiki TV

I went to Best Buy and hhgregg looking for a new television about a month ago. After reading many reviews on a few different televisions I had in my mind I narrowed it down to LG or SONY. I had 42" LG before, a 32" SONY in my bedroom and I had a roommate that uses a 50+? inch VIZIO--then I saw the SEIKI. I had never heard of the brand before and asked the people at the different stores about it and read some reviews on my phone while at the store. SEIKI 55inch LCD 1080p 120hz for $699.99...seemed a little off to me. But after reading many reviews and talking to some people I went ahead and took a risk with it. Note* I am def. not one to go off-brand with electronics.* I went ahead an purchased a 5yr warranty plan with it to be safe; SO IF THE PICTURE QUALITY or TV IS NOT TO MY STANDARDS or BREAKS WITHIN 5 YEARS I GET A NEW ONE OR THE MONEY BACK. I have heard and read that SEIKI and LG are connected somehow and that LG parts are used with SEIKI televisions, so that was a plus to hear..whether how true those statements are.

Looking at the display at the store; LG, SEIKI and SONY all right beside each other (LCDs) I could not see a difference. The TV was VERY WELL packaged, lots of Styrofoam and protective coverings. The weight was about 93 lbs, too me, not too bad. I was able to handle it myself..I had too. It hooked up very easily, came with all the necessary cables and even an HDMI cable of pretty good quality.

The remote is nothing fancy, pretty bland, but it has everything you need on it to operate your TV. The menus are easy to get around and understand. The factory settings on the picture settings were pretty good. I tweaked mine to my preference as any TV I own. The sound from the TV is also pretty good, better than my LG. But obv. a good home theater system is going to be better.

I have noticed nothing that I do not like from this TV, after my first 2 months of owning it, besides the remote. My cable box synced up with the TV right away. The picture quality is great with the HD cable, LG Bluray and my XBOX 360. I see no problems or negative differences than what is with my LG or SONY. (Besides some different options;ex SONY has more HDMI ports, etc.) I always use the latest HIGH SPEED HDMI CABLES available also, no problems with connection/loss of picture. There is NO internet access with this TV but that is not a concern of mine while I use my 360 or Bluray to access what I'd need with the TV and have a laptop and desktop computer for the more important things.

I truly believe this is a good to great TV for the brand and the price. Depending on what you are looking for in your TV should depend on what you want to buy. Other TVs may have more options in different areas, you may want an LED or 3D televison..but this is perfect for me. VIZIO started out similar with low-priced sets with good quality that greatly improved over that last couple years and I feel Seiki is going the same route.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a TV right now, nor pay for an LED or 3D. LEDs will drop in price over the next couple years and the LCD isn't really a big picture difference to me and for what I NEED.

I DO recommend this TV. I love it and I am VERY impressed thus far with the quality and picture of my purchase. If you don't want to buy an off-brand, it's understandable, but know you can get a lemon from any other manufacturer just as well. As was my first LG set, but they did replace.

I hope this review helps those who read it.

Superwinch 1145230 Terra 45 4500lbs/2046kg Warn ATV Winch single line pull with hawse, handlebar mnt toggle, handheld remote, and synthetic rope

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003COQAKA/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003COQAKA&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=J4XUHES2R44EHZU5

Warn ATV Winch

Received this winch by mail very fast and I was very pleased with what all came with the winch. It came with everything you needed to install the winch on your ATV including a mounting plate and all electrical wiring and contactor and controls for your ATV handlebars. I bought this winch to replace a Warn 4000lb. winch that didn't last 1 1/2 year on my UTV. I am very pleased also with the quality of this winch set up and the fairlead does look cool to boot. Now that I've used this winch several times in the muddyest of conditions and even while it was under water. We love it, it works smooth as butter and is alot quieter than our Warn ever was I don't thing I'll ever buy another Warn winch and I've owned SEVERAL Warn winches in my last 40 years of 4X4ing in the mud. SUPERWINCH excellent!!!!!

I love the winch! I have used it three or four times and it is working beautifully. The winch, it's anodized aluminum fairlead and synthetic rope all have a quality feel especially considering it's price is considerably less than a Warn brand winch.

The kit was quite complete though some bolts were shorter than I would like. There was more than enough wire for installing it on my Gator UTV and I like that the kit comes with both a permanent mount switch and a pendant one which plugs into the provided socket.

If you don't feel comfortable figuring out basic electrical wiring like switches and solenoids you may have trouble. The instructions are pretty thin and in one place I found them to be incorrect causing the winch to run in the opposite direction as the buttons say. Simply swapping a couple wires quickly took care of it but if you don't have any electrical experience I suppose it would be frustrating.

I do not like the doubling up of two fusible links like they did. It looks cheap and they did not provide any way of mounting them. Enclosing them in a plastic soap box would work but instead I bought a re-settable breaker from the auto parts store.

I know I have made a few negative comments but all in all I feel this is a great winch at any price and a real bargain for about $230.

NETGEAR Push2TV PTV3000

I am taking the time to write an in depth review of this product, the Netgear PTV3000 Push2TV Wireless Display Adapter.

I ordered this unit from Amazon and just received it yesterday.

The first thing that you need to know about this device is that it does indeed work. There are however a few things that you need to know in order to get it up and running and also to optimize its performance once that has happened.

I have my PTV3000 plugged into my Sony Bravia HDTV via an HDMI cable in the back along with a USB cable plugged into the back of the TV as its power source. No need to take up another outlet so it is best to use a spare USB jack on your TV if you have one available.

After you have plugged the PTV3000 unit in to your TV the next step is to open the Intel WiDi software program on your PC or Laptop computer. I am using a Sony Vaio Laptop to run the Intel WiDi software.

Once you have opened the WiDi software you can enable the software to scan for the PTV3000. If it finds it then simply click on "connect" and wait a few moments and see if it establishes a connection with the PTV3000.

When I first tried this I was not able to establish a connection to my PTV3000 unit after trying to get it to connect via the Intel WiDi software about 20 times.

Here is what I would recommend that everyone who buys the PTV3000 do FIRST!!

Update/download the latest firmware for the PTV3000 via the Netgear web site. The instructions for doing this are included in the brief manual that comes with the PTV3000. After you have done that I would suggest that you also update the driver/software for the Intel WiDi program on whatever PC or laptop you will be using to send content to your TV. The Sony laptop that I recently bought had an older version of the Intel WiDi software on it and after I downloaded the update for the software, which was 265MB by the way, I was able to connect to the PTV3000 via my Laptop with no problems.

Now, here is something that Netgear does not mention in the user manual. The PTV3000 works best when you have your source, laptop, PC etc..., as close to the PTV3000 as possible. I would suggest keeping your source no more than 20 feet away from the PTV3000 for best results. The second tip that I can share with you is to stand the PTV3000 end on end like a book sitting on a shelf so that the top of the unit faces the direction of your laptop/source. After much trial and error I determined that the antenna inside the PTV3000 is located on the top of the PTV3000 so by standing it end on end and pointing it towards your source you will get a much stronger signal as opposed to setting the PTV3000 flat.

One thing you will notice is that if you walk between your source and the PTV3000 that the audio will sputter and cut out briefly. This ties in with my theory that the PTV3000 likes to have a direct line of sight to your source in order to deliver the best picture with no buffering or glitches.

I had originally placed my laptop about 10 feet away from the PTV300 and after I discovered that the antenna was located in the top of the PTV3000 and stood it up end on end and pointed it towards my laptop I was actually able to have my laptop about 24 feet away and it worked perfectly.

Most of the stuff that I have shared was nowhere to be found in the manual. I learned from trial and error and hopefully this review will help those of you so that you can save some time and follow my advice so that you can be up and running in no time.

Overall the picture and sound quality that the PTV3000 delivers is excellent. The night before I received the PTV3000 I hooked up my laptop to my TV via an HDMI cable and I can honestly say that the picture and sound quality that I was able to get using the PTV3000 was the same as if I was using an HDMI cable.

If you follow my advice I feel confident that you will be pleased with the Netgear PTV3000.

VIZIO Flat Screen TV E480i-B2 48-Inch 1080p Smart LED HDTV

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GKKI4NY/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00GKKI4NY&linkCode=as2&tag=tvchoy-20&linkId=ZVZZN7UTW3KWABVQ

VIZIO Flat Screen TV

Pros:

Panasonic VIERA TV TC-L47E50 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz Full HD IPS LED-LCD TV

Panasonic VIERA TV

As a programmer and a gamer, I have my share of expensive monitors (just ask my wife!). And the regular LCD TV never satisfy my quality standard; colors are either too cartonish, black is not black, and white is tinted blue. So I have only used plasma as TV. It's warm, have rich real color, it's perfect for movie night, there is no argument there.

So for my second TV, which in my study and music room, I want to try something else, since I keep hearing the LED LCD are the bomb nowaday (even most of them still do not look as life like as good plasma to me), the energy usage is low, thin and light. So I try my first LED LCD with this model after researching the latest 2012 models within my "2nd tv" price range.

Sales person kept pushing LG (got magic wand, apps, thin bezel.....), but for me, IPS is the magic word. For people who do not know what it is just google "IPS panel", if no time, just know this, IPS is supposedly the best panel you can get as LCD panel (I believe all big Apple monitors are IPS, no exception), color is more vivid and the view angle should be a perfect 178.

Got the baby home, set it up, hook up to my 15TB home server w/ HDMI, play some 1080p clips. Wow, it's so clear and real looking, this is some great monitor/TV I told myself. Flipped to the movies folder, open Avatar, wow, so this is 120hz, looking real smooth, real clear.

IN FACT, it's so real and clear, I double check my refresh rate (at 60hz from source) all the codecs. The images looks like a pre-rendered animation, totally flawless. But after the first 5 minutes, it feels kind of weird to me as the movie somehow look much smoother, but "cheaper" at the same time. Then I remember the stuff I heard....soap opera effect.

I never consider my eyes to be sensitive in any case (if anything, years of looking at multi 27" monitor should have desensitized me...), so whenever I heard SOE, I'd just brush it off as some people's sensitive eyes. IT'S NOT, it's very much noticeable to anyone, albeit some people just don't care about it when watching movies in the first place. In 300, all the grains are gone! Now it's really looking like animation, watching them fighting the monsters.

By now, 2 hours after I unpacked it, I'm panicking and start looking at all the menu items. After much google, some site suggested to use Game mode, so the TV wouldn't add additional frames by itself to smooth out the frames. BINGO, the movies are looking absolutely stunning, got the good colors, no bleeding, black is pretty black (not as black as the best plasma...but blacker than most mid price monitors out there, which is a tall order for this size and price). So I open up some calibration graphic test for monitor and tune it abit, I'm pretty much set -- happy.

BTW I have not try any apps in there, but I tested the iphone app remote, works great.

So to sum it up, if you just want picture quality with a good price in a LED LCD, not gimmicks like 3D, apps, hair thin bezel, this is it.

Make sure you understand the usage of GAME MODE, tune the brightness/contrast/color to watch movie, and use all the other ones for TV, personal videos, then it's good. OTOH, if the SOE do not bother you, doesn't matter then. The color and contrast will win you over in no time.
