Radio Shack TV Antenna

Before I bought this antenna I tried two others (RCA ANT1400 @ $18.99 and TERK OMNITV1A @ $79.99). With the RCA I was able to receive 2 channels. Returned the RCA for the TERK thinking it would be an upgrade and I ended up receiving 1 channel. Because I am in the lower level and the terrain, I thought that I would have to go with an outdoor antenna. I found out about this antenna on Consumer Reports and decided to give it a try. Without any major fuzz I was immediately able to receive the 6 channels within my immediate area. One of these days I will play with the location to see if I can pick up other channels that are farther away. But for the price, this antenna has done the job I need it to do.

One tip...search for "antenna distance from tower" and you will get a few websites that will tell you exactly how many channels are in your area and the type of antenna needed. Once you figure this out then you can go out and test different antennas.

I have owned two of these antenna's for about 3 years and receive 78 channels on one and 42 channels on the other (because of where they are placed). I wish Amazon would sell these new as Radio Shack is out of stock in the Manhattan store's and I need one for the living-room now. Time to dump TMC, tired of the BS.

This antenna didn't improve my over the air (OTA) reception. I actually lost channels that I had been receiving with a passive RCA antenna. On channels that I did get, high definition broadcasts were slightly better, but standard definition broadcasts were much duller than with the previous passive antenna.

This product might be useful for people further away from broadcasting antennas, but it made my reception not better enough on high definition and worse for standard definition broadcasts.

Not enough value for me to keep it.

  1. Anyone who wants to have access to HD programming for local and major networks at a very affordable rate. If you don't have cable or satellite television service or if you just have a standard definition cable box, indoor hdtv antenna
