DIRECTV Cinema Connection Kit
I had directv whole home dvr service installed in October 2012. I had a wireless adapter connected to my tv for on demand at time of install so the installer left it connected. I called directv and inquired about the cck-w and they sent me one for free. I installed it but did not notice a difference in speed so I reconnected my linksys adapter and boxed up the cck-w. I recently upgraded my wireless router and was curious as to whether or not there was some advantage to using the directv adapter as opposed to the linksys adapter. So far I do not see any difference but I can use my adapter for other equipment in the future. I have no issues with the directv adapter so far. Note that you can use 3rd party adapters to get access to streaming services from directv. The cck-w is not required to make steaming services work.
Great product but before you buy it here I would check with Directv because sometimes they give it to you for free depending on what your plan is.
I love that Directv got with the program a while back and got on demand service. However, they wanted to charge me 100 bucks for the wireless connection kit. I said no thank you. Well a year later I happened to stubble upon the product on amazon and purchased it for more than 50 percent off and super quick shipping. So way better deal if you ask me.
The set up was quick and easy. I will say the learning curve was a bit hard as for learning how to actually find the on demand shows. I mean the free ones. It was plenty easy to find what they wanted to charge you for. But once I got the hang of it, it was just like using cable or fios on demand service.
If you want to connect your DirecTV receiver to the internet via wifi, this does the trick. It was quite easy to install and it is compact enough to be hidden behind the cabinet. Mine is actually attached to the back of the cabinet out of sight but well within range of my wifi access point.
